1. Vertigo Rooftop Bar at Banyan Tree Bangkok :
Reaching for the clouds at Vertigo and Moon Bar on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree hotel is one of the best ways to end a long day in Bangkok. There is no lack of rooftop bars in town but Vertigo has always been amongst the favourites. With an unusual narrow and elongated shape, the entire top of the building is occupied by both the bar and the restaurant and gives the unusual impression of being aboard a spaceship in the sky. Located on Sathorn road, a very large busy avenue peppered with tall glass and metal skyscrapers and not far from the Lumpini park and Silom area, Banyan Tree is a name often associated with luxury. The hotel and its unusual design might be a bit aging, but once you step inside the lobby, you’re still aware of this sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. From the lobby, a fast lift will take you to the 60th floor where you find the popular Bai Yun Chinese restaurant, walk pass it and up a flight of stairs that leads you outdoors. You better not be afraid of heights, as Bangkok will be laid out below you the moment you step outside.
2. Sky Bar Rooftop at Lebua :
Made even more famous by hosting the Hangover II boys during filming in Bangkok, Sky Bar rooftop at Lebua State Tower offers one of the best views in the city. 63 floors up and overlooking the river, it has become a must-do for a sundowner cocktail.

Around ten minutes’ walk from Saphan Taksin BTS it is very easy to find, just look up and walk towards the tall cream building with the gold dome on the roof. It may not be the most relaxed experience as people will flock here on a clear day and it gets crowded, but the vista is one you won’t forget in a hurry.
3. Octave Rooftop Bar at Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit
Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok waited a long time for its very own rooftop bar, and then finally one came along and showed the rest of them how it should really be done. Octave Rooftop and Lounge is more than a place for watching the sunset or having a romantic meal. No rooftop bar in the city has a 360 degree view of Bangkok that matches this, and the top floor of this three level venue is the highest spot in the city for a party. Starting on the 45th floor of the Marriot Hotel Sukhumvit, a three minute walk from Thong Lor Skytrain Station, Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge opens at 17:00. Although the location is handy, it is slightly off the main tourist trail meaning that it is usually easy to grab a seat at one of Octave’s tables with a view.
4. Park Society Rooftop at Sofitel So Bangkok
Rooftop bars seem to be the latest craze in Bangkok, so much so that I wonder just how many cities in the world have more rooftop bars than here? And open-air bars are popular for a reason! The weather during half the year is safe, you never have to worry about rain, and during the ‘rainy season’ you can still enjoy many happy hours under the open skies. Actually, the cloudy skies of the wet season are a lot nicer than during high season, when all you get on your photo is a plain blue sky. Boring… So here we have Park Society at Sofitel So Bangkok, another nice promising rooftop bar. Great, but it is getting increasingly difficult to impress Bangkok citizens! Let’s face it, except maybe for the 360 bar at the Hilton Millennium by the Chao Phraya River, all other rooftops bars in Bangkok just offer… a bird’s eye view on a sea of roofs. And since Sofitel is located in Sathorn, a large avenue flanked by tall glass buildings on each side, expectations were rather low.
5. 360 Rooftop Bar at Millennium Hilton
360 bar at Millennium Hilton is possibly one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok but surprisingly one of the least talked about. 31 floors might not be as high as some famous buildings in the city, but what the Hilton lacks in stature, it more than makes up with a view that surpasses almost all other rooftops.

The bar consists of two distinct areas: One is a large rectangular open air space covering the entire middle part of this tall riverside building, and the other part, as the name suggests, is an amazing 360 degrees cupola balanced one floor above. It really looks like a gigantic flying saucer has landed on the edge of the Millennium Hilton tower and the views from this indoor panoramic bar are fantastic.
